Delayed Harvest and Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - Update February 4, 2022

UPDATE February 4 at 8:46a.m.   All of the local stocked trout streams are high and muddy from the melting snow and rain showers.  They should be fishable by Sunday Feb. 6

Posted February 3--The ice and snow is melting and with the rain in our area today, I expect the trout steams to rise over the next day.  This will allow the trout to spread throughout the streams looking for food.  The springs provide some excellent food sources for the trout to feed upon. There are many cress bugs downstream from these springs. Using a Cress Bug size 14 & 16, I fish across stream from right below the spring to as far downstream as I find natural cress bugs in the stream.

Be willing to wade in the streams to get to areas that are not easily or heavily fished. The Hawksbill in Page County and the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Rockingham County were recently stocked.  To see the full stocking schedule, visit the VA DWR website.
