Mountain Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 19, 2024

The Little Yellow Stoneflies and Sulphurs are still present on the mountain trout streams. Drift a Little Yellow Stonefly Dry or Shenk's Sulphur size 16 through the pools using a slack line cast. By using my pop strike which reduces the pressure on the hooked trout instantly, I can usually catch several trout from each pool.

Earlier this week, the water temperature was 62 degrees and the streams in the Shenandoah National Park are very low, making the conditions very tough to fish. The trout are very wary and easily spooked. Stay as low as you can to hide your approach. I recommend going early morning since the water temperature will be cooler.
