Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - June 5, 2024

We are getting some wonderful fishing on the smallmouth bass rivers. The North Fork and the South Fork of the Shenandoah River are in great shape. We are using bigger flies to attract the bigger bass.  The Murray's Magnum Hog Sucker size 4 and Murray's Tungsten Cone Head Marauder size 4 provides a big mouthful and works well in the deeper pockets. There are great numbers of shiner minnows over the 1-2 foot deep gravel bars along the river banks. The bass run up onto these gravel bars and grab several shiners then return to the security of the deep water. A Silver Outcast Streamer works well here. We are picking up a few bass on topwater with the Shenandoah Blue Popper and Shenandoah Chartreuse Chugger. Fish all of these on a Bright Butt 9ft 2X leader.
