Smallmouth Bass Streams Fly Fishing Report - September 25, 2021

I checked the North Fork of the Shenandoah River this morning and it is starting to clear and the water levels are dropping. It still has a little extra water volume that would make it tough for safe wading. I think by Monday 9/27/21 the conditions will be better for wading. If you have a kayak or canoe I think you would be fine to float on the North Fork by Sunday 9/26/21. Be sure to check your maps because there are 3 dams on the North Fork that is not legal or safe to go around. In this slightly discolored water the Murray's Heavy Black Hellgrammite size 6 or Murray's Black Strymph size 4 or Murray's Magnum Darter Streamer size 4 would work best. The South Fork of the Shenandoah River is still muddy and high.
The nighttime air temperature as been in the 40's this week so the water temperature is getting cooler. Be sure to bring your chest high waders.
