Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - April 5, 2024
Share
Update for April 5, 2024-- The stocked trout streams are back to the normal water levels, are clear and fishable. Please note that Heritage Day waters are not open for fishing today. They will be open at 9a.m. tomorrow for fishing. All other streams that are not part of the Heritage Day are open for fishing.
Posted April 3, 2024 The local stocked trout streams are currently discolored from the recent rains. The levels have come up some but not significantly so I expect this discoloration to run out pretty quickly (within a day or two). Big Stoney Creek and Passage Creek were stocked recently. Heritage Day is Saturday April 6 on select streams. Passage Creek is included in Heritage Day which means no fishing allowed on Friday, April 5. On April 6, fishing can begin at 9:00 a.m. For more information, see their website. If you need help on access, stop by the fly shop.
Recommended flies include the Perdigon Nymph (French) size 12, Bead Head Mr. Rapidan size 12, Murray's Marauder (black or pearl) size 10, Murray's Heavy Hellgrammite, Black size 8.
