Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - December 23, 2021

Springs, like the one pictured above, produce large numbers of cress bugs. These cress bugs may be found over 100 feet down the main stream depending on the stream volume. The trout will feed heavily on the cress bugs. Start on the side of the stream straight out beside the spring. Cast a Cress Bug size 14 or 16 straight across stream below the spring and swim it very slowly along the stream bottom. Wade slowly downstream pausing every 5 feet to repeat this technique and you will catch some nice trout.

The local stocked trout streams are clear and fishable.  The water levels are low and clear so wade carefully so you don't spook the trout.

For more information on the streams that were just stocked..see the VA DWR website.

We hope you have a safe and Merry Christmas!
