Stocked Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - January 13, 2022

The snow has melted and the stream levels are perfect for fishing. The local stocked trout streams such as Big Stoney Creek west of Edinburg and Passage Creek in Fort Valley, were stocked this week.
I would suggest using the Swing Nymphing technique to get your nymphs deeper than other techniques. We teach this technique in our Mountain Trout Schools and Smallmouth Bass Schools. My favorite flies to use with this technique is the Murray's Road Kill Nymph size 8, Murray's Heavy Hellgrammite (Olive) size 8 and Mr. Rapidan Soft Hackle Brown Nymph size 10.
If you are looking to do some streamer fishing, the new Tungsten Bead Marauder in size 10 is fast sinking and would be excellent on these streams.
Be sure to bring your hippers or waders so that you can get to the areas that are not right beside the road as these areas get fished heavily just after being stocked.
