Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - November 16, 2022

Part #1--Stocked Trout Streams. The rains over the last week have really improved the stream levels. We currently have levels that we normally experience in the spring. This allows the stocked trout to be spread out in the stream and not in just one section where they usually stock. The Murray's Tungsten Bead Marauder in size 10 works well in the extra volume of water. If you are fishing around the natural springs, put on a Cress Bug and fish down and across several 100 yards downstream of the spring. To see the latest streams stocked, visit the VA DWR website.
Part #2 --Native Brook Trout Mountain Trout Streams. The native brook trout are still spawning so I haven't been fishing these streams. I have had a few customers report that the streams levels are much better since the recent rains. A Murray's Flying Beetle size 16 or Mr. Rapidan Midge size 18 are working best.
If you are interested in learning more about the native brook trout streams in the Shenandoah National Park, join us this Saturday 11/19/22 at the fly shop in Edinburg at 10a.m. I will be conducting a classroom discussion on these streams, including flies, and tackle. We will be conducting on the stream schools in Spring 2023. They are filling up fast, so reserve your spot soon.
