Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - November 22, 2023

Stocked Trout Streams--Many of the recently stocked large rainbows and browns feed deeply on minnows and nymphs right below the riffles. In order to swim our flies effectively along the stream bottom, we've developed some great streamers and nymphs for this fishing. The Murray's Tungsten Bead Marauder in size 10 is ideal (available in 3 colors). Using these with a Perdigon Nymph (Red) size 12 on an 18-inch 4X mono dropper below it will enable you to swim this combo right along the stream bottom where the large rainbows feed.  If you are not comfortable fishing a 2-fly rig then fish each of these separately. Bead Head Copper Johns are working as well on the stocked trout streams.  The recent rains have helped the stream levels so the fishing should be good over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The fly shop will be closing at 1p.m. on 11/22, closed Thanksgiving Day, resuming normal hours on Friday 11/24 of 9a.m. to 4p.m. We hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Mountain Trout Streams -- The Shenandoah National Park remains closed to fishing until further notice. There is also a fire ban within the Park limits. See their website for more info.

The best time to fish these streams is in the Spring due to ideal water levels and hatches. We are already booking guide trips and Fly Fishing Schools in the Park, Fly Fishing Schools in the GW National Forest for Spring 2024. Don't miss out!
