Trout Streams Fly Fishing Report - September 28, 2024

The Shenandoah National Park streams received 1-3 inches of rain in most areas with high winds from the remnants of the hurricane causing many downed trees on the Skyline Drive and along the streams and trails. Crews are working on clean up so be patient. I would suggest waiting a few days and then try the fishing by going in off the Skyline Drive to the upper regions of the streams.  Ants and beetle patterns are recommended.  The brook trout start spawning in October so watch for the beds.

The local stocked trout streams are currently too high and muddy to fish. The VA DWR will start their stocking program in October so we will post updates as the conditions improve.
